Why You’re Going Through This

Jesus prayed for your oneness with the Father—this season might be His answer.

Daily Devotional

Now This Explains It

There are times when your path feels incredibly lonely.
But sons and daughters, hear me—that solitude might be the answer to Jesus’ prayer.

In John 17, Jesus didn’t just pray for your protection or success.
He prayed for something far deeper:

“That they may be one with the Father, just as I am.”

That’s not casual Christianity.
That’s not religion.
That’s union—a closeness with God that mirrors the relationship between the Son and the Father.

And sometimes the route to that oneness is not what we’d choose.
God may lead you through disappointments, closed doors, or unanswered questions, not because He’s forgotten you—but because He’s forming you into someone who reflects His Son.

Kingdom Discipleship: A Word from Pastor Kevin

Sons and daughters,

You might be walking through a situation right now that feels completely out of alignment with your plans.

Maybe you're grieving.
Maybe you're confused.
Maybe you’re watching something fall apart and thinking, “Why would God allow this?”

Let me offer you a shift in perspective:
Jesus prayed for you to be one with the Father.
Not comfortable. Not celebrated.
One.

The things that test us—when we let them—transform us.

So instead of asking, “How can I get out of this?”, start asking, “How can this bring me closer to the Father?”

When you agree with God’s purpose, your bitterness becomes sweetness, your grief becomes glory, and your loneliness becomes intimacy.
He won’t stop pursuing oneness with you—because His Son asked for it.

That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.

John 17:21 (NIV)

Today’s Prayer

Father, I confess that sometimes I fight against the very things You’re using to answer Jesus’ prayer.
Make me one with You.
Even if it means going through the valley—go with me.
Even if it means letting go of my plans—let Your will be done.
I choose closeness with You over comfort without You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
