When the Mentor is Gone

What you learned beside Elijah must now lead you across the Jordan.

Daily Devotional

This Experience Must Come

There will come a moment in every disciple’s life—
when the one you depended on is taken away.

The mentor.
The covering.
The one whose mantle comforted you.

And God will say:
"Now walk."

Elijah was never meant to stay.
He was meant to prepare you.

Jordan is where you’re forced to go alone.
Jericho is where you must act on what you’ve seen others do.
Bethel is where panic meets purpose—and God proves He’s still present.

Don’t wait for Elijah to come back.
He won’t.
But God hasn’t gone anywhere.

Pick up the cloak.
Strike the waters.
And walk forward in what you’ve learned.

Kingdom Disciples: A Word from Pastor Kevin

Sons and daughters—
There will be a time when the people who trained you, taught you, walked with you...
won’t be there anymore.

Not because something went wrong—
but because the time was right.

This is when faith becomes yours.
Not borrowed. Not inherited. Not echoed.
But owned.

The question is not whether Elijah left you a mantle.
The question is whether you’ll use it.

And he saw him no more.

Today’s Prayer

Father,
Thank You for the mentors who prepared me,
But help me never confuse them with You.
Give me the courage to walk across my Jordan,
To trust You at my Jericho,
And to find Your wisdom at Bethel.
Make me bold enough to pick up the mantle.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
