When God Breaks the Illusion

Disillusionment is painful—but it’s holy.

The Discipline of Disillusionment

Disillusionment is the death of false expectations.
It’s when the mask comes off—
and we finally see people (and ourselves) as we really are.
Not who we imagined. Not who we hoped.

It hurts.
But it’s not the end.

The discipline of disillusionment doesn’t make you bitter—
it makes you better.
Not cynical—
just clear-eyed and humble.

Jesus wasn’t naive.
He trusted no man, yet He didn’t walk around suspicious or closed off.
Why?
Because His hope was in the Father,
not in the perfection of people.

Kingdom Discipleship: A Word from Pastor Kevin

Sons and daughters,
You will be let down.
You will see people fail.
And if your love isn’t rooted in God first,
you’ll become cruel in your disappointment.

Disillusionment is the mercy of God pulling you out of fantasy.
So you can stop demanding from people what only Jesus can give.

Let the illusions die.
Let the light in.

Jesus did not commit Himself unto them… for He knew what was in man.

John 2:24–25 (KJV)

Today’s Prayer

Jesus,
Thank You for seeing through the illusion and still loving us.
Break every false idea I’ve held about people, myself, and even You.
Teach me to root my trust in You alone.
Amen.
