What’s the Good of Prayer?

Prayer isn’t about getting—it’s about knowing God.

WHAT'S THE GOOD OF PRAYER?

The natural man doesn’t pray—
not really.
Prayer isn’t just words; it’s a response to life with God inside you.

When you’re born from above, the life of the Son of God begins in you—
and like any life, it needs nourishment.
Not food. Not fortune.
But prayer.

Prayer isn’t primarily how you get things from God.
It’s how you get to know God.

Kingdom Disciples: A Word from Pastor Kevin

Sons and daughters,
Some of us are malnourished in the Spirit.
Not because we haven’t been reading or serving—
but because we haven’t been praying.

Real prayer doesn’t just change situations—
it changes you.

Prayer realigns your desires,
restores your perspective,
and revives the life of Christ within you.

So don’t wait for crisis.
Don’t wait until you’ve run out of options.
Talk to your Father now.

Ask.
Cry out.
Confess.
Listen.

Because prayer is where power begins.

Lord, teach us to pray.

Today’s Prayer

Father,
Thank You for the invitation to know You.
Teach me to pray—not to perform, but to abide.
Nourish the life of Christ in me through daily communion.
Make prayer my first instinct, not my last resort.
Amen.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS
  • Am I nourishing the life of Christ in me through prayer?

  • What am I truly seeking when I pray—things or God Himself?

  • Where have I been self-sufficient instead of prayer-dependent?
