Stop Measuring Others—Let God Search You

Jesus didn’t call you to be a judge. He called you to be a disciple.

Daily Devotional

The Uncritical Temper

Jesus doesn’t suggest that we avoid judging others.
He commands it: Don’t.

And yet, many of us walk through life with a spiritual measuring rod—
comparing, critiquing, even condemning—
while calling it “discernment.”

But in the Kingdom, criticism doesn’t build anyone up.
It divides.
It hardens your spirit.
It blinds you to the grace you desperately need yourself.

You’re not called to fix people.
You’re called to love them—and let the Holy Spirit do the heart surgery.

Kingdom Discipleship: A Word from Pastor Kevin

Sons and daughters,
Let me be real with you:
If you're always pointing out what’s wrong in others, chances are you're trying to avoid what’s still broken in you.

Jesus said when you see a speck in someone else’s eye, it means there's a beam in yours.
That’s not reverse psychology—it’s revelation.

And here’s the danger:
A critical spirit will block your intimacy with God.
It will rob your tenderness.
It will make you spiritually smug and emotionally cold.

Every time you judge someone else, you're making two statements:

  1. “I’m better than they are.”

  2. “God’s not done working on them, but He’s done working on me.”

Both are lies.

Instead of judging, ask the Spirit to give you eyes to see your own need.
Let Him do a spiritual spring-cleaning in you.
You’ll find there’s no room for superiority left—only gratitude.

Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

Today’s Prayer

Father,
Forgive me for every time I’ve tried to sit in Your seat and play judge.
Search me.
Cleanse me.
Teach me to see others the way You see me—through the lens of grace.
Strip me of pride. Fill me with mercy.
And let every conversation I have today be seasoned with humility and love.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
