Stay With Jesus. Leave Self Behind.
Don’t just visit His presence—abide in it, and let Him rewrite your identity.
Daily Devotional
Getting There
Some of us are content to just visit Jesus.
We “abide” for a moment, then life kicks back in. Self-interest returns. Pride creeps up. The moment passes—and so does our closeness to Him.
But Jesus isn’t asking you to check in for a moment of inspiration.
He’s inviting you to abide, to stay—not just with your emotions, but with your entire life.
The longer you stay, the more He erases what doesn’t belong.
The pride.
The self-sufficiency.
The performative spirituality.
Only when those things are erased can He write something new—your real name, your real identity, your real purpose.
Kingdom Discipleship: A Word from Pastor Kevin
Sons and daughters,
It’s easy to spiritualize our low self-esteem and call it humility.
You hear folks say, “Oh, I’m no saint,” as if that’s holiness. But listen to me—that’s not humility; that’s hidden pride.
It’s a backhanded way of telling God, “You can’t change me.”
But He can.
And He will.
If you stop negotiating with your pride and start surrendering it at the feet of Jesus.
Some of you only want God to save you and send you to heaven. But He wants to make His home in you now. Not just for a moment, not just for a church service—but for forever.
Stop treating your spiritual life like a rental and start living like Jesus owns the whole house.
“Come,” He replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where He was staying, and they spent that day with Him.

Today’s Prayer
Jesus,
You see my pride, even when I dress it up as humility.
You know where I still want to visit instead of stay.
Today, I let go of every self-made excuse, every bit of self-sufficiency.
Erase what needs to go.
Write Your new name across every part of my life.
Make Your home in me, forever.
Amen.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS
Am I only abiding with Jesus in moments, or am I letting Him dwell in me continually?
Is there any hidden pride in my “humility” that refuses to believe I can truly become holy?
What part of me still resists the full erasing and rewriting Jesus wants to do?
